In our office, we want each patient to have the best overall experience. Many patients prefer sedation during oral surgery to help them feel completely comfortable and relaxed throughout their entire visit. We offer two types of sedation – general anesthesia and IV sedation. Depending on your needs, your doctor will recommend the best type of sedation for your upcoming visit. With the help of sedation dentistry, you can be at ease while your doctor treats your smile. Whether you are in need of emergency care or working towards your smile goals, sedation dentistry can improve your overall dental experience. If you are in need of sedation dentistry in North Andover, MA, call our office today to schedule your consultation!

Why Choose Sedation

  • Calms anxiety and fears
  • Helps patients get through lengthy treatments
  • Blocks the feeling of discomfort during surgery
  • Allows patients to ‘forget’ their treatment

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia is used during several procedures. It is simply administered through a mask that is placed over the nose or via an IV line. Within minutes, you will begin to feel the effects of the anesthesia and likely fall asleep. The level of sedation can be increased or decreased throughout your visit and you will be continually monitored for safety. You will feel completely relaxed and at ease while your doctor works on your smile. Once your visit is over, the effects of the anesthesia will begin to fade allowing you to resume your normal activities depending on the instructions given for your recovery following treatment.

IV Sedation

For lengthy procedures, IV sedation is recommended. This sedation is both safe and effective. Administered by one of our trained doctors, your IV sedation will go to work right away. Throughout your visit, your doctor can increase or decrease your sedation levels as needed. IV sedation allows you to feel comfortable during your entire visit. With IV sedation, your dentist can accomplish a lot in just one office visit. Because the effects of IV sedation can take some time to fully subside, you will need a driver to bring you home following your appointment.
